Grant funded projects

The following research projects are currently funded by various federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, including the National Institutes of Mental Health, Drug Abuse, Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Dental and Craniofacial Research, Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Aging, Environmental Health Sciences, Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Deafness and other Communicative Disorders and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Science Foundation, as well as state agencies such as the Virginia Department of Health.

Private foundations such as the American Diabetes Association, Keck Foundation, National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Affective Disorders, the Hazel Thorpe and George Gay Carman Trust, the John Templeton Foundation, the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation and the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation provide additional support.
